Letter to Barney Frank

Dear Barney Frank,

My name is Linda Morose. I'm writing to you today because i'm doing a project in my college class taught by Professor Monica Poole. My project is called "Be the change" which speaks for itself. We are to find an important group in our community and focus on a particular issue and be the change for them in a positive way.For my project i'm focussing on the LGBT community, specifically an issue with the suicide attempts by these teenagers in this group. Congressman i'm sure you know that statistically that teens in the LGBT community are four times more likely to commit suicide then heterosexual teenagers.

I mean now is the time to be the change for these teens who need guidance in their lives and a good influence to follow. Some of them have now place else to go and that is why they give up and get so low that they just attempt suicide and it happens absolutely and I am a living proof of that fact. So to start I did some community service with my class mate at school and we past out flyers to people out of the school and in side for a few hours and spoke to them about out issue. We also took picture with the people we spoke to see we would remember them and the are located on my school blog.

I will also be talking to a lot of people about attempting to open a after center for these teens so they have some where safe to go after school. And have some seminars etc. for them and that would help them stop feeling so ashamed or confused on their life style. These teens should be  able to live their lives in peace because they deserve  that. Now I really appreciate you taking the time out of your busy schedule to read this letter and view my project.

                                                                                                      Sincerely,

                                                                                                                        Linda Morose

Billy's Project

I really liked Billy's project it was about poverty and hunger. I liked the usage of his statistics like if we used one percent of the money we used on weapons twords feeding people we could feed everyone for a year. I mean imagine what we could do and what change we could make if we just took the time to change this problem.

voting

So yesterday I went to register to vote, and it was actually alot easier then I expected. It took less then five minutes and all I had to do was give my name address and my date of birth. I encourage everyone to register to vote because as corny as it may sound I believe that at the end of the day every vote really does matter. So we should all go out and vote in november because midterm elections this year are going to be some of the most important elections in history. So let's get out there and make a real change peace and love.....<3

be the change

For my be the change project i'm going to focus on gay rights and more specifically working with tgbt teens and trying to lower the suicide rates of this community. This is an issue really close to me heart because I have attempted suicide more then once so i understand how they feel. I also have many gay friends so i'm sure they would be proud of me knowing that i'm trying to make a change with them for the good :-)

sojourner truth

I just read a letter by soujourner truth with my class yesturday and it really hit me. There were so many different things she said like, " I have been fourty years free and fourty years a slave." That broke my heart right there. And being an african american it really hurts to know that my people really had to go through all this to get where we are now. The other thing that really caught my attention was when she said, "I am above eighty years old; it is about time for me to be going..........I suppose I am kept here because someting remains for me to do." And she was right there was alot more to be done but thankfully that emancipation proclamation was made and now i'm sure soujourner truth is now smiling in here grave.....peace and love.....<3

The women's movement

Tonight we're gonna talk all about women and  the women's movement.....now we have come along way as women in this world. First we were to be stuck as mothers in the home cooking and cleaning and popping out babies and what not. But now times are changing and women are doing great things as we speak.... Take Emily's List for example they are a great organization for Prochoice progressive democratic women. they represent strong women in politics such as Barbra Boxer, Kristin Gillabrand, Patty Murray etc. who have chosen there views and beliefs. We need to rise up as women and become the great women that we were meant to be; and like the great Maya Angelou once said, "We may encounter many defeats but we must not be defeated." So encourage yourself tonight women and join the women's movement together we can make huge a difference.......<3

Free Will

I've been thinking and wondering for a while about this subject. Is the free will in this world. Does free will truly exist.....I do not  know. This question may go unanswered but I just want to put it out there. So I would love to hear your thoughts on the subject of free will
